A customer of ours has a blog about her Bungalow Remodel, here in Portland, Oregon.  It is an incredible resource for anyone who is thinking about, dreaming about, or just plain interested in the respectful remodel of a classic Bungalow.  Here is her Blog

“Johnny of the Laurelhurst Fan Company dropped by the exhaust cover. It is a thing of beauty! I am so glad I splurged on it. Because of existing constraints, the exhaust fan for the bath was placed on an interior wall. The fan was then vented through an exterior wall and under the back deck to obscure the exterior vent cover from view. But on the inside, I could not bear the idea of staring at a 14″ white plastic square vent cover every time I entered the bathroom, so I searched for something more vintage-looking and discovered the Laurelhurst Fan Company located right here in Portland, Oregon. Who thought something so mundane could be so gorgeous? I thoroughly enjoyed working with Johnny and Nicole and can’t wait to have the grille put up.”

The fan looks, and works great. The blade color, combined with the wall color, match well with our accent floor tile.

We received this lovely note from some customers  in Seattle who chose the colors of their fan based upon their vintage bathroom tiles (Vintage Pink, Vintage Green, & Polished Nickel).
It was a stunning piece and we can’t wait to post the photos when we receive them.

Dear Nicole and John – We had our fan installed yesterday and can’t
believe how enthusiastic one can be about a bathroom appliance.  It is
absolutely beautiful – we and Mario and Sal (the installer) were all
grinning and oh-my-godding at what a piece of art it is.  It looks so
incredibly perfect with the vintage tiles in the bathroom.  And, on
top of everything, it works like a dream.  It’s really strong and
quiet.  It was amazing to not see steam, moisture and drips post-
shower for the first time!  We will be painting soon and then will
get a photo.  This is such an amazing option for people who love the old in

Brushed Nickel Kitchen Exhaust Fan – “The Earl”

The “Earl” exhaust fan – in brushed nickel -  looks fabulous in this kitchen restoration, here in Portland, OR.
I sure would love to pour boiling spaghetti water down that sink and watch all the steam be sucked right out!

Covering Existing Fans & Air Ducts

It all started with a phone call.  A client had an existing fan that they were happy with – but a fan cover they were not.
They purchased a brass grille to tie in with the brass feet on their clawfoot tub.
The only issue remaining was how to cover up the existing wiring and unfinished drywall that would still be visible through the brass grille.
Excited by the challenge, that is when we started offering custom faceplates, which can be plated or powder coated just like all of our other components.

The client measured the opening of their fan hole and we made a custom faceplate to their specified dimensions, which in this case was a square.

This is a great option for those of you who, like we mentioned, have an existing fan that you would like to keep – or a ventilation hole of some sort – but want to have something aesthetically fitting to your room.   Click here for grille designs, sizing, color and plating options.

Pink Fans and Custom Colors

Pink Parkview

Pink bathrooms, pink kitchens…they  definitely have their place!  We have been pleasantly surprised by the attention this color is getting and wanted to give “her” a special post.

Custom Almond Parkview

As you can tell by recent photos, “The Parkview” is a real favorite!
The owner’s of this second fan are in the midst of a kitchen restoration and wanted the outside border to match their trimwork.  They sent us a color chip and we matched it to an Almond custom powder coating color.
This photo shows a new blade that will be coming out around the same time as the ceiling fans, in the fall.  The center circle and the blade are a brushed aluminum.  It’s really a beauty – clean and classic.  We will post photos of their kitchen remodel when they are done!
